DTG vs DTF printing, explained.
Both print full-colour designs digitally. The difference is how the ink gets onto the garment.
Quick answer
DTG (direct to garment) prints ink straight onto the fabric with an inkjet printer, and is best for detailed full-colour designs on cotton. DTF (direct to film) prints the design onto a film that is heat-pressed onto the garment, and works across more fabric types, including polyester and blends.
How DTG works
The garment is loaded into a specialised printer that applies ink directly onto the fabric, much like a desktop printer on paper. Dark garments are pretreated and printed with a white base layer first.

How DTF works
The design is printed onto a special film, coated with an adhesive powder and cured. The transfer is then heat-pressed onto the garment.

Is there a minimum order for DTG or DTF?
Minimums depend on the job. Tell us your quantities and we confirm the minimum in your quote.
Do DTG and DTF prints wash well?
Yes, when cared for properly. Wash inside out in cold or warm water and avoid ironing directly on the print.
Can DTF go on bags and caps?
Often, yes, depending on the material and shape. We check the item and confirm in your quote.
