GUIDE

How to care for printed and embroidered garments.

A few simple habits keep prints, embroidery and fabric looking good for longer.

Quick answer

Wash printed and embroidered garments inside out in cold or warm water (up to 30°C), avoid bleach and fabric softener, line dry or tumble dry on low, and never iron directly on a print. Always follow the care label on the garment.

Printed garments

  • Turn inside out before washing
  • Wash cold or warm with similar colours
  • Skip bleach and fabric softener
  • Line dry, or tumble dry on low heat
  • Iron on the reverse side, never directly on the print

Embroidered garments

  • Wash inside out on a gentle cycle
  • Do not pull loose threads; trim them carefully
  • Iron on the reverse, with a cloth over the embroidery if needed

Cotton and organic cotton

Cotton can shrink slightly with hot water and high heat, unless the style is pre-shrunk. Cold or warm washing and low-heat drying help garments keep their size and shape.

For uniform and staff programmes

Share these care steps with your team, as most wear on uniforms comes from hot washes and high-heat drying.

Questions

Why has my print cracked?

Cracking is usually caused by high heat, from hot drying or ironing directly on the print. Washing inside out and drying on low heat helps prints last.

Can printed garments be dry cleaned?

Check the care label. In general, prints are best washed rather than dry cleaned.

Will organic cotton shrink?

Like all cotton, it can shrink slightly with hot water and high heat unless it is pre-shrunk. Follow the care label for best results.
